The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
