Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
